20 August 2020 – Guinness World Records™ (GWR), the global authority on record-breaking achievements announced a new world record for The largest packaged product mosaic (image) measures 157.7 m² which was achieved by Funko (UAE) in association with Dubai Summer Surprises and Mall of the Emirates.
The brand-new title with a minimum requirement of 150 m2 is the first on-site adjudication GWR delivered in the MENA region since lockdown. The instalment, which consists of 8,600 packaged products, took 15 people and a total of 16 hours to complete, and was barriered off to ensure social distancing with promoters and walk-in shoppers.
The official attempt was made by Monkey Distribution, the Middle East distributor of the pop culture collectibles company Funko, to celebrate its collectors.
Verifying the record onsite, Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator, Danny Hickson said: “This is another proud moment for the UAE to add a new title to its wide collection of world records. Thousands of Pop! Vinyl products were used to celebrate Funko collectors around the world, and what better way than with a Guinness World Records title.”
Shaddy Gaad, Senior Marketing Manager, Guinness World Records said: “It gives me great pleasure to see that the tough times are behind us. This was the first on-site Official Adjudication in the UAE since early days of the pandemic. Seeing that the global situation previously impaired business confidence across the world, it is impressive to see the UAE entities acting responsible and showing great resilience at this time. We congratulate Funko, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Summer Surprises on their achievement.”
