Magrabi Health has announced a new global achievement after receiving the "Network of Excellence in Ophthalmology" accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), making it the first healthcare network in the world to receive this accreditation in ophthalmology. This achievement reflects its global leadership in ophthalmology and reaffirms its ongoing commitment to providing specialized care in accordance with the highest standards of quality, patient safety, and innovation.
The "Network of Excellence in Ophthalmology" accreditation is considered one of the leading international accreditations specializing in this field. It distinguishes itself from other global accreditations by evaluating both healthcare facilities and surgeons who provide exceptional patient care, and recognizing institutions that demonstrate excellence in healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, operational performance, and patient experience, reflecting their ability to provide specialized services in accordance with international best practices and standards.
This achievement follows Magrabi Health's fulfillment of the requirements of the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), which applies standards to evaluate the quality of clinical care, patient safety, clinical outcomes, operational performance, and patient experience, reflecting the Group's commitment to implementing global best practices in ophthalmology.
The evaluation also covered physicians' surgical expertise and competencies, consulting services and multidisciplinary care, as well as the availability of advanced surgical devices, equipment, and technologies. This reflects the integrated care ecosystem provided by Magrabi Health in ophthalmology.
The accreditation directly benefits patients through the implementation of internationally recognized standards, enhanced patient safety, improved service quality, and the provision of an integrated and consistent care experience across the Group's facilities. This contributes to improving clinical outcomes and advancing the quality of healthcare.
This achievement builds on Magrabi Health's more than 70-year legacy of leadership in ophthalmology, which has been marked by major milestones, including performing the first corneal transplant in the region, pioneering the introduction of LASIK vision correction procedures, and adopting artificial intelligence technologies for the early detection of diabetic retinopathy. It also follows the accreditation of a number of its hospitals and centers as Centers of Excellence in Ophthalmology, as well as the accreditation of several of its consultants and surgeons as Distinguished Surgeons, further demonstrating its continued commitment to excellence and innovation in specialized eye care.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Mutasim Alireza, Chief Executive Officer, Magrabi Health, said: "We are proud at Magrabi Health to be the first healthcare network in the world to receive the 'Network of Excellence in Ophthalmology' accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). This achievement reflects our steadfast commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality, achieving the best clinical outcomes, and providing an exceptional patient experience throughout every stage of the healthcare journey."
He added: "The SRC accreditation is distinguished by its evaluation of both healthcare facilities and physicians who provide exceptional patient care, making this achievement a testament to the success of Magrabi Health's approach to building an integrated specialized care ecosystem that brings together medical expertise, innovation, and global best practices."
Dr. Abdulrahman Barzangi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer / Chief Operating Officer, Magrabi Health, said: "This accreditation is the result of an integrated institutional effort across the Group's facilities. Achieving this milestone was by no means easy, as it required the standardization of clinical practices and protocols, strengthening collaboration between medical and operational teams, continued investment in training, conducting regular reviews, measuring performance indicators, and fostering an institutional culture centered on quality and continuous improvement. These efforts enabled us to fulfill the requirements of this global accreditation."
Building on this achievement, Magrabi Health will continue expanding its Centers of Excellence, investing in advanced ophthalmic technologies, strengthening research and innovation, and advancing medical education and training. These efforts will support the objectives of Vision 2030 in enhancing the quality of healthcare services, improving clinical outcomes, and elevating quality of life.
