Riyadh, August 11, 2026, SPA -- The Ministry of Sport yesterday announced the launch of the new edition of the Sport Clubs Support Strategy for the 2026-2027 sports season, marking its eighth year. The strategy continues to advance the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sports club ecosystem through an enhanced funding and incentive model that promotes institutional performance and financial and administrative sustainability. It encourages clubs to achieve excellence and competitiveness.
The new edition of the strategy is built around seven key initiatives: direct support, various sports, governance, fan attendance, facility development, digital transformation, and increasing commercial revenues. These initiatives are designed to provide an integrated, performance-based support system that contributes to club development, improves operational efficiency and service quality, diversifies revenue sources, and promotes the sustainability of the sports sector.
The strategy will continue to develop direct support and various sports initiatives to improve spending efficiency and encourage sporting excellence. It will also continue implementing the facility development and digital transformation initiatives to enhance clubs’ infrastructure, improve digital services, and standardize operational platforms, contributing to a better club experience and greater institutional efficiency.
The governance initiative is one of the key pillars of the strategy. It focuses on developing evaluation standards and performance indicators for sports clubs, strengthening compliance with rules and regulations, promoting transparency and accountability, and improving administrative and financial governance. The fan attendance initiative, meanwhile, seeks to increase the number of fans, enhance their experience and engagement, and convert them into long-term members, thereby strengthening loyalty and affiliation with clubs.
The initiative to increase commercial revenues represents one of the strategy’s newly introduced tracks this year. It aims to enable clubs to grow their self-generated revenues, strengthen their investments, and develop their business models, contributing to greater financial sustainability and creating long-term economic value.
The strategy is one of the key programs aimed at continuously developing the sector. It reflects Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to build a more efficient, sustainable, and competitive sports ecosystem, enhance clubs’ readiness, support their growth, and further strengthen the standing of Saudi sports.
