Riyadh, June 17, 2026, SPA -- The King Salman Center for Disability Research (KSCDR) launched the “AI Hackathon for People with Disabilities” as part of the activities of the 7th International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation The initiative coincides with the 'Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026.' It reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to harnessing advanced technologies and modern innovations to serve people, empower persons with disabilities, and enhance their quality of life. The hackathon's organization reflects KSCDR’s leading role in supporting scientific research, innovation, and the development of sustainable solutions in the field of disability. It provides a platform that brings together experts, researchers, innovators, developers, and entrepreneurs from inside and outside the Kingdom to develop smart solutions and technologies that help address the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, while enhancing their empowerment and active participation in society. Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KSCDR Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz affirmed that the launch of the AI Hackathon for People with Disabilities reflects the strong support extended by the wise leadership to persons with disabilities and its commitment to enabling them to benefit from rapid technological advancements and actively participate in the national development process. The program offers a range of scientific and technical mentoring services, as well as funding opportunities and partnerships, to enhance project sustainability and help translate promising innovations into practical solutions with a tangible impact on the lives of persons with disabilities.
