Riyadh, July 29, 2026, SPA -- King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) has made the photographic collection of Dr. Rashad bin Mahmoud Pharaon available through its Beneficiary Services Center, offering researchers and history enthusiasts a rich visual record of key chapters in Saudi Arabia’s political, diplomatic, and social history.

Spanning the period from 1360 AH to 1423 AH (1940-2002), the collection features rare photographs capturing official ceremonies and key political, diplomatic, and social events. The archive includes images of official receptions, the exchange of decorations, meetings with Arab and international leaders, project and hospital inaugurations, field visits, national occasions, public celebrations, and everyday life across the Kingdom.

Dr. Rashad Pharaon was a prominent figure who contributed to key stages in the establishment of Saudi state institutions. Born in Damascus in 1910, he studied medicine in France before moving to Saudi Arabia, where he served as personal physician to King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. He later held several senior government and diplomatic posts, including minister of health, ambassador to France and Spain, and adviser to King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The collection serves as an important visual reference for researchers and those interested in the Kingdom’s history, documenting Saudi Arabia’s international relations, official protocol, national development journey, and social transformations. It also reflects milestones in Dr. Rashad Pharaon’s distinguished career, which spanned more than six decades.

Making the collection accessible is part of Darah’s ongoing efforts to preserve historical sources, archival records, and photographic collections while facilitating research and academic use. The initiative contributes to enriching historical studies and strengthening the documentation of the Kingdom’s history, the evolution of its institutions, and its international relations.
