Iconic Arabic Football Commentator Fahad Al-Otaibi lends his Voice to Golf in hilarious video launching this week's Saudi International!

February 3, King Abdullah Economic City: The Arab world’s “voice of football” Fahad Al-Otaibi could be looking at a career change after lending his iconic commentary to Saudi Arabia’s flagship golf event the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers.

The superstar commentator - known around the world for his passion-packed narration to the biggest games in club and international football - visited Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City to give an extra bit of Saudi flair to traditional golf commentary…with hilarious results!

Placing himself around the golf course - which from today hosts a who’s-who of the world’s best golfers in the $5million prize-money tournament - Al-Otaibi took the role of a roving live reporter, bringing his famously warm vigour and 100mph-style to the typically more serene game of golf.

Shared today by the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers via its social media channels online, the video is sure to thrill both football and golf fans alike, with Al-Otaibi being one of the biggest names in Middle Eastern sport.

Al-Otaibi, who has been the go-to Arabic voice for English Premier League, Champions League and World Cup football for more than a decade, said: “This is the first time that I’ve provided commentary for a golf tournament - it was a great experience. I got to know the game closely and had great fun with all the players!

The PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers got underway this morning at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, around an hour’s drive from Jeddah. 

 

Ticket-holders can head along to watch the world’s biggest and best golfers go head-to-head Thursday through Sunday, including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Lee Westwood, Tony Finau and Shane Lowry.

The tournament is offering a picnic-style atmosphere for visitors, too, with blankets available to be dotted around the golf course and delicious food trucks serving up mouth-watering dishes.
