Al-Baha Pomegranate Farms: A Valuable Agricultural and Economic Resource

Al-Baha, September 11, 2025, SPA -- Al-Baha Region is renowned for its pomegranate cultivation, a valuable agricultural resource that contributes to food security and offers promising investment opportunities. The region's pomegranate varieties are distinguished by their high quality, thanks to fertile soil and abundant water.

According to Director of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture branch in Al-Baha Eng. Fahd Al-Zahrani, the targeted agricultural area for pomegranates is an estimated 200 hectares. Farmers receive non-refundable support from the Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development Program (Saudi Reef) and other organic agriculture initiatives, which align with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to enhance food security and empower farmers.

Local farmer Abdul Karim Al-Zahrani noted that pomegranate cultivation is a tradition inherited from his ancestors and remains a key source of income. Farms are in several areas, and varieties include Moroccan red, green, and black pomegranates. The pomegranate harvest season begins in early September and lasts for approximately three months.

Al-Baha hosts an annual Pomegranate Festival in Al-Qura Governorate to highlight production, connect producers with exporters and investors, and open new marketing and export prospects.
