Buraidah, October 15, 2025, SPA -- Pomegranates are a distinctive and high-value agricultural product in Qassim Region, where farmers are currently harvesting an abundant season of high-quality varieties. The region’s total production has surpassed 10,000 tons from more than 100 farms across several governorates and villages. This robust output reinforces Qassim's distinction in producing this seasonal crop, making it a main agricultural resource and a key economic contributor that supports the national food security system. Local farmer Youssef Al-Rathi’i highlighted the diversity of the fruit, noting that while there are many types globally, 11 varieties are found in the Kingdom, with each region known for its specific variety. He explained that the pomegranate care season begins in March and continues until the fruit ripens in September, with harvesting extending through early December. Al-Rathi’i emphasized that pomegranates require special care, including regular irrigation during the summer and early detection of pests.
