British Council Expands in Riyadh Celebrating 50 Years of Impact in Saudi Arabia Supporting Vision 2030's Education Goals

Riyadh, 25 November 2025 - The British Council proudly celebrated the opening of its new branch at Ellesmere College at East of Riyadh during an official signing ceremony attended by Matthew Knowles, Country Director, British Council KSA, and Dr. Ahmed El-Essawi, CEO, Ellesmere College Riyadh.

This new branch reflects the British Council's commitment to helping Saudi Arabia's young generation develop the communication and life skills needed for success in school, university, and future careers.

By bringing internationally recognised English programmes to more families and adults in Riyadh, it complements the organisation's existing centres across the city and supports the Kingdom's education and youth development goals.

Matthew Knowles said: 'We are delighted to open our new branch at Ellesmere College at the East side of Riyadh. By bringing our programmes closer to families, we help learners gain the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly connected world.'

Dr. Ahmed El-Essawi added: 'Our partnership with the British Council provides modern, engaging learning environments that equip students with both language proficiency and essential life skills.'

The new branch offers interactive courses to build fluency and confidence, led by British Council-qualified teachers using learner-centred methods. Programmes focus on practical, real-world communication, with free consultations to help learners choose the right course

Courses begin in the last week of November 2025, with free consultations and registration available through the British Council website.

This collaboration supports Saudi Arabia's ambition to be a global centre of educational excellence and highlights the British Council's ongoing work with leading partners to foster a culture of international engagement and lifelong learning.

The British Council continues to deliver trusted, high-quality English teaching with expert educators, creating opportunities for young learners to grow and succeed while remaining close to their communities.
