Muharram Crescent Conjunction with Mercury Observed in Northern Borders Sky

Arar, June 17, 2026, SPA -- The conjunction of the crescent of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH with Mercury was observed on Tuesday evening in the sky of Northern Borders Region, in a striking astronomical scene where it was seen after sunset above the western horizon, under clear atmospheric conditions that contributed to good visibility.

Member of the Astronomy and Space Club Adnan Khalifa indicated that the crescent of Muharram appeared in apparent proximity to the planet Mercury in an astronomical phenomenon known as a conjunction, in which the two celestial bodies appear close to each other from the observer’s perspective on Earth, despite the vast distance separating them in space.
He noted that Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and is often difficult to observe because of its apparent proximity to the Sun. However, he added, its conjunction with the crescent provided a good opportunity for observation during the evening twilight period.

The scene attracted the attention of astronomy enthusiasts and astrophotography hobbyists in the region, who documented the phenomenon with their cameras, given its visual appeal that reflects the precision of celestial motion and the regularity of orbital paths.
