A Pilgrim's Journey in the Saudi medical caravan Riyadh: The 78-year-old Moroccan pilgrim Mohamed Hammou did not realize that a broken leg, would enable him to live an experience he will never forget. Hammou who was taking a walk near the Prophet's mosque on Sunday, June 18, suffered a sliding accident that resulted in a fractured femur, which required urgent surgery to stabilize it. Upon recovery from the operation, medical staff reassured Hammou that he had been selected to join the special medical convoy, which travels 400 km from Madina to hospitals in the Arafat area, enabling sick pilgrims to complete their sacred journey on an ambulance with medical supervision. The medical convoy includes 27 specialized medical transport vehicles accompanied by oxygen trucks and technical support units.
