Moon Conjunction with Mars Observed in Northern Borders Sky

Arar, August 27, 2025, SPA -- The sky over Northern Borders Region witnessed a remarkable astronomical event yesterday evening, as the moon aligned with Mars and the star Chi Virginis in the Virgo constellation. The star appeared close to the moon’s disk, while Mars was visible above to the right, creating a stunning scene that captured the attention of astronomy enthusiasts and skywatchers.

A member of the Space and Astronomy Club Adnan Khalifah explained that a conjunction is defined as the apparent proximity of two celestial bodies in the sky as seen from Earth, noting that it does not indicate actual closeness in space but rather an apparent alignment along the line of sight.

He added that the phenomenon offers an ideal opportunity for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers to observe the moon and Mars together with the naked eye, while small telescopes and binoculars provide an even clearer view. Mars could be distinguished by its reddish-orange hue beside the moon.

Khalifah pointed out that observing such phenomena helps raise community awareness of the importance of astronomy and space sciences and fuels enthusiasts’ passion for following the diverse celestial events that fill the skies throughout the year.
