King's College Riyadh Welcomes World Scouts Leaders for Historic Visit

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 22 September 2025: King’s College Riyadh (KCR) was honoured to host leaders of the World Scouts Foundation and distinguished guests for a landmark event celebrating global youth development and the enduring partnership between Saudi Arabia and the World Scouts on 16th September 2025.

The event brought together 20 King’s College Riyadh pupils who last year travelled to the UK to visit King’s College Taunton and London, where they attended the World Scouts Gala Dinner and met His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Honorary Chairman of the World Scouts. Their participation was made possible through the support of His Excellency Faisal Bin Abdulrahman Bin Muammar, KCR partner for Downe House Riyadh and a board member of the World Scouts Foundation.

The gathering at King’s College Riyadh marked the continuation of that journey, coinciding with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s historic donation to the World Scouts through the Messengers of Peace initiative, of which HE Faisal played a pivotal role.

The visit was attended by HRH Prince Guillaume, Crown Prince of Luxembourg; Princess Sama Faisal Al Saud; HE Faisal Bin Abdulrahman Bin Muammar; World Scouts Foundation Leaders John Geoghean, Mark Knippenberg, Siegfried Weiser and Yasmin Weiser;  senior representatives from the British Embassy; Messengers of Peace Scouts Youth representatives; and prominent partners and principals of both King’s College Riyadh and Downe House Riyadh. Parents of the participating pupils, along with pupils from Downe House Riyadh engaged in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, also joined the celebration.

The afternoon began with a welcome from the Principal of King’s College Riyadh, followed by an address from Siegfried Weiser, World Scouts Foundation Board Member. Inspiring presentations from World Youth Scouts representatives of Slovenia, Ecuador, and Zimbabwe highlighted the global reach of the movement, while King’s College Riyadh pupils reflected on their London visit and presented a token of gratitude. The programme concluded with remarks from HE Faisal Bin Abdulrahman Bin Muammar, who acknowledged the Kingdom’s commitment to empowering youth worldwide, before guests gathered for a reception.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of King’s College Riyadh, Mrs Jacqueline Doran-McGuinness said: “We are proud to welcome the World Scouts Foundation to our school. This visit highlights the importance of developing the next generation of leaders who are globally minded, socially responsible, and committed to serving their communities.”

King’s College Riyadh extends its gratitude to HE Faisal Bin Abdulrahman Bin Muammar for his steadfast commitment to youth development and for facilitating this unique opportunity for its pupils to connect with one of the world’s most respected youth organisations.
