AlBaraka Symposium for Islamic Economy Concludes

Madinah, February 12, 2026, SPA -- The 46th AlBaraka Symposium for Islamic Economy concluded after six specialized academic sessions held under the theme “The Righteousness and Benevolence in Islamic Economy: The Future Forward,” with the participation of a select group of scholars, experts, and practitioners from various countries

In his closing remarks, AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy Secretary-General Yousef Hassan Khalawi emphasized that the symposium provided a solid scholarly platform for dialogue, reflection, and anticipating future developments.

He noted that the rich discussions revealed extensive opportunities for research and innovation within Islamic economics amid accelerating global economic transformations.

Moreover, Khalawi stated that the “Righteousness and Benevolence Economy” is emerging as a key focus for the next phase of Islamic economic development.
While Islamic banking has been, without dispute, the most prominent sector over the past 50 years - establishing a strong global institutional presence - the upcoming phase is expected to see the charitable and philanthropic economy rise as a broader framework to enhance developmental and social impact, with Islamic banking maintaining its central role as the largest sector in terms of assets, reach, and acceptance, he said.

The symposium concluded by stressing the importance of translating its recommendations into actionable programs and effective partnerships that advance the Islamic economic system, strengthen its role in sustainable development, and reinforce the values of justice and social solidarity within communities.
