Cairo, July 14, 2026, SPA -- The 58th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights opened on Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The session is chaired by Ambassador Talal Khaled Al-Mutairi and attended by representatives of member states.

Saudi Arabia is participating with a delegation headed by Member of the Board of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Sulaiman bin Mohammed Al-Sheddi.
Over the course of two days, the committee will discuss a number of issues, including the Palestinian cause, Israeli violations in the occupied Arab territories, Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons, the bodies of detained martyrs, the Arab Charter on Human Rights, and preparations for Arab Human Rights Day 2027.

The committee is expected to submit its recommendations to the 166th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, to be held in September.
