Buraidah, July 07, 2026, SPA -- Date palm farms in Qassim Region have begun the first signs of the coloring stage, marking the annual transition of dates from green to yellow or red depending on the variety. This phase signals the approaching rutab season and the start of the harvest period, one of the region’s most important agricultural and economic events. Qassim is among Saudi Arabia’s leading date-producing regions, home to more than 11 million palm trees and numerous varieties, including Sukari, Barhi, Khalas, and others known locally and internationally. Farmers are closely monitoring ripening levels, adjusting irrigation, and preparing for early harvests. The season also boosts related activities such as transportation, packaging, marketing, and food industries, while attracting visitors to farms and markets. Beyond its economic value, the rutab season represents a deep cultural tradition connecting communities with the palm tree, a symbol of heritage, prosperity, and sustainability in the region.
