Saudi Arabia, March 27, 2016: Mini Exchange, the award-‐winning online marketplace for everything mums and kids, is set to launch a dedicated Saudi site on 1st April. Saudi Arabia is a huge market with limited access to mum and kids’ products, but this is about to change. Mini Exchange has signed with a number of Saudi-‐based distributors meaning KSA residents will now be able to order from the Saudi site in both English and Arabic, have items shipped and delivered in 1-‐2 days, and pay local shipping rates. Previously, KSA residents had to order via UAE distributors, which took 3 days and came with higher shipping fees. Giving KSA buyers efficient access to what they need in Arabic, (the dominant language of the e-‐commerce space), is clearly meeting consumers’ needs, but Mini Exchange’s arrival in the market was perfectly planned, and expertly timed. E-‐commerce in Saudi Arabia is growing and is estimated to reach USD 10.9 billion by 20201. Research states that online retail markets are considered ‘developed’ if a country’s online retail exceeds 8.5% of its total retail2, (KSA was anticipated to reach just under 8% in 2015). There are two large e-‐commerce players operating in KSA already, but the market is by no means saturated as yet, and the online space for mums and kids’ products is currently untapped, leaving room for huge growth in this area. Furthermore, KSA has one of the highest smartphone penetrations in the world which fully supports the belief that e-‐commerce there is really set to take off. Overall, Mini Exchange has seen exponential growth over the past 12 months since securing its seed fundraising round of USD1.1m, and now features over 750 global brands across 850 product categories. The site is currently launching up to 20 new brands online every week and has recently launched a new House & Home section, where shoppers can order brands such as Nutribullet, Ecover, Nuk and Elk & Co, and enjoy delivery to their doors. ‘Mini Monday’s’ is a weekly 24 hour offer where one product available at a substantial discount (varies from offer to offer) and ‘Wicked Wednesdays’ is a weekly competition to win a Mini Exchange prize.
