Saudi Team Competes Against 64 Countries in International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in India

Mumbai, August 18, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi national team for astronomy and space continues its competitive journey at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2025) in Mumbai, undertaking a series of scientific tests that form the core of the global competition.

The event, held from August 11 to 21, 2025, brings together around 300 students from 64 countries, along with more than 140 team leaders and observers from across the world.

This participation follows months of intensive training and preparation at the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, “Mawhiba,” in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), and with the sponsorship from Neo Group. The program aims to enable Saudi students to compete at the highest international scientific levels.

The Kingdom is represented in this edition by five gifted students. This marks Saudi Arabia’s second participation in the competition, following its debut in 2024, when it won three bronze medals. This year, the Saudi team continues to strengthen its scientific and competitive standing on the international stage.
