Saudi Health and Saudi Post SPL succeeded early July in carrying out trials to transport blood units using drones during the Hajj season.
These trips have shortened the transportation time for blood units from two and a half hours to two minutes while adhering to strict health requirements.
This success will allow to implement the procedure in the upcoming Hajj seasons to ensure rapid and safe access of blood for critical cases.
The initiative came as a collaboration between Saudi Health’s Creative Center and Station25 Center in SPL. Ventures were launched to facilitate innovation within both organizations.
