AlUla, Saudi Arabia – 11 March 2024 The ancient city of AlUla, nestled in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the sacred tranquillity and contemplation of Ramadan while exploring the depth of the city’s rich heritage and culture, its varied gastronomic experiences, and wholesome community activities.

This year's Ramadan celebrations in AlUla promise an array of enchanting and enriching experiences, from traditional iftars featuring authentic local cuisines to captivating cultural displays that illuminate the historic Incense Road. Embark on a journey that transcends time, blending the past with the present, to create a memorable Ramadan in the heart of AlUla.

Unique Experiences

AlJadidah Iftar (22nd March, 6pm to 8.30pm): Experience the warmth of the AlUla people and an authentic taste of Saudi hospitality at this one-time-only communal iftar held outdoors in the AlJadidah Arts District. This unique experience aims to cultivate community and the spirit of Ramadan, ensuring that each co-host of the iftar is a resident of AlJadidah, providing an authentic taste of local cuisine. Iftar and Stargazing by Husaak (9th March to 8th April, daily, 4pm to 10.15pm): Indulge in an iftar like no other beneath the captivating night sky of AlUla, renowned for its exceptionally dark skies. This unforgettable experience unfolds in the remote beauty of the Gharameel area, surrounded by the remnants of towering rock pillars. Fawazer Ramadan (Every Thursday and Friday, 10pm to 12am): Learn more about Ramadan and the unity it inspires through this unique activity held during the first three weekends of the Holy Month. A small stage will be set up for presenters to engage the audience with riddles, rewarding those who answer correctly with culturally relevant gifts that reflect Ramadan themes and AlUla's identity. Okto Harrat Viewpoint (Daily, 1pm to 3am): Celebrate the Holy Month and witness nature’s beauty at the same time at Harrat Viewpoint, the summit of a volcanic mountain that overlooks canyons, the lush oasis and rock formations. Amidst enchanting decorations, vibrant lanterns and elegant motifs, Okto Restaurant at the Harrat Viewpoint will remain open until 3am daily, offering a delightful blend of traditional and international cuisine. Elephant Rock (Saturday to Wednesday, 6pm to 2am; Thursday and Friday: 6pm to 3am): Enjoy the Ramadan festivities at Elephant Rock with captivating decorations throughout, making for the perfect Instagram spot. The site opens from iftar, providing ample time for visitors to immerse themselves in the celebratory atmosphere. Key Café, Jolt Qaws, and Salt will be open, serving their delightful offerings.

Ramadan Carts in AlJadidah (10th March to 9th April, 8pm to 2am): Discover a delightful array of food carts offering traditional Ramadan dishes meticulously prepared by local families. From savory delights to sweet treats, these carts provide an authentic culinary experience, showcasing the rich and diverse flavours of Ramadan traditions.

Ramadan Incense Road Lights (10th March to 9th April, 8pm to 3am): Experience a night of enchantment as AlJadidah puts the spotlight on AlUla’s history as a stop of the legendary Incense Road. The revived Incense Road at the arts and culture hub will be adorned with sparkling lights, intricate lanterns, and fragrant incense, creating a captivating atmosphere. Decorative tapestries and local AlUla food carts will further enhance the cultural celebration of Ramadan, offering visitors a magical experience that truly captures the essence of the Holy Month.

Hotel Offers

Our Habitas AlUla: Experience complete rejuvenation with a one-night retreat and contemplation amidst picturesque canyons, with rooms starting from SAR 2,000. The package includes one iftar and one suhoor, or breakfast and dinner for up to two guests.

Wellness and revitalisation also take centre stage at Our Habitas AlUla during Ramadan, with a special wellness-focused promotion at Thuraya Wellness Spa. Receive an additional 30-minute session complimentary when any 60-minute treatment is scheduled. For a serene late-night experience, indulge in a Candlelit Sound Bath under the stars for SAR 150 per session.

In addition to accommodation and spa options, Our Habitas AlUla invites guests to savour wholesome iftar and suhoor experiences daily. Delight in an iftar at Tama Restaurant, nestled within the enchanting Ashar Valley, from 15th March to 12th April, priced at SAR 350 per person. Chef Sebestian will curate a captivating set menu inspired by Ramadan delicacies from the Levantine region, all while the sun sets, marking the end of the day's fast.

For a truly special experience, join in for Iftar Under the Stars, running from 15th March to 12th April on Fridays only. Priced at SAR 600, this unique Matmoura iftar menu at Tama restaurant features Chef Sebestian's Ramadan selection, which includes a delightful assortment of dates, refreshing beverages, traditional mezze, and delicacies cooked in handcrafted earth ovens.

Iftar options include Daily Iftar at Caravan by Habitas AlUla for SAR 200 and o set menu for Suhoor at the Food Trucks for SAR 300 per person.

Banyan Tree AlUla: Embark on an exclusive Ramadan staycation, immersed in the serenity of the Ashar Valley beneath the enchanting starlit skies. Experience tranquillity in your private villa, where body and mind realign during this sacred month. Included in stays are mini-bar daily refills, the choice of an in-villa suhoor set menu or breakfast at Harrat, and the restaurant’s special iftar experience. Additionally, receive a 20% discount voucher, valid from 1st June to 31st August (T&C’s apply), and enjoy complimentary yoga and meditation group classes. As an add-on, get a 60-minute spa treatment per person per stay.

For non-residents, Banyan Tree AlUla offers up to 30% off on all spa treatments and wellbeing services between 10am to 5pm during Ramadan.

Discover the richness of Banyan Tree AlUla’s Ramadan dining offers, featuring the iftar experience at Harrat Restaurant every night from sunset to 9pm. For a unique communal iftar experience, step into the enchanting world where the spirit of Arabian heritage comes alive within the embrace of a traditional Bedouin tent. Available every Friday from sunset to 9pm (upon request) for SAR 350.

Celebrate Eid Al Fitr with a spectacular brunch at Harrat priced at SAR 350 + VAT, or become immersed in the enchanting ambiance of a Bedouin tent, where live music and stargazing activities await. Additionally, indulge in the ultimate relaxation with a 20% discount on spa services, including treatments and well-being practices.

Cloud 7: The trendy AlUla hotel presents an exclusive offer from 11th March to 9th April, with room prices starting at SAR 900. As part of VIP in-room amenities, guests can indulge in a touch of sweetness with baklava, kunafa, and qatayef. All rooms will also include a mini basket with local AlUla dates from Al Hassa Oasis and laban in the minibar.
