April 13, 2015 : Oman Ministry of Tourism is participating at the Riyadh Travel Fair 2015, that is taking place from April 14 to 17, 2015 at the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, the KSA to strengthen the Sultanate’s status as one of the region’s top tourist destinations for Saudi Nationals. During their presence at the event, the Ministry is throwing the spotlight on the diverse appeal of Omani tourist attractions, water and adventure sports, and premium hotels and resorts, including the southern city of Salalah and various ancient sites that are now part of the UNESCO’s ‘World Heritage List.’ Oman attracted 12,908 tourists from Saudi Arabia, during the annual Khareef Festival 2014 hosted in Salalah during the months of July and August. By highlighting its tourist attractions and hospitality facilities during its participation at the four-day Riyadh Travel Fair, the Sultanate aims to sustain the growth attained by its tourism sector and facilitate further market expansion. Oman continues to improve its infrastructures, enhance its services, and organize awareness campaigns to attract regional visitors. Aside from enjoying one of the most diverse environments in the Middle East, Oman has successfully established itself as a prime destination for cultural tourism. Oman was recognized as 2015’s top destination by Skift, the world’s largest global travel industry intelligence firm. Oman’s local tourist attractions include beautiful beaches and nature spots; traditional ‘souqs’ (markets); ancient forts, settlements and tombs; and UNESCO-recognized heritage sites. Visitors can also engage in various sporting and adventurous activities such as trekking and rock climbing; turtle, dolphin and bird watching; and desert safaris, among others.
