Riyadh, October 7, 2025, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the second meeting of the Regional Advisory Council for the Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Madinah from October 16 to 19, with the participation of representatives from 11 countries, along with program leaders and athlete leaders from across the MENA region. The meeting serves as a crucial platform for exchanging expertise, fostering partnerships and developing initiatives that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through sports, reflecting the Kingdom’s leading role and commitment to supporting the group. The council began its work more than 20 years ago as a platform bringing together program leaders from member states, with the aim of advancing the Special Olympics movement regionally and unifying efforts to serve its athletes. The Kingdom’s hosting of this meeting reflects its continued commitment to promoting sports inclusion, providing a supportive environment for athletes and their families and building on the achievements made in cooperation with regional and international partners.
