Freetown, January 13, 2026, SPA -- Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi met on Monday in the Sierra Leonean capital, Freetown, with members of the Security Council Committee of the Republic of Sierra Leone, chaired by Sierra Leonean Minister of Internal Affairs Morie Lengor and attended by several other officials. During the meeting, they discussed the latest security developments in Sierra Leone, reviewed challenges in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime, and examined mechanisms to enhance coordination between security and military agencies, thereby strengthening their technical and operational capabilities to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and responsiveness. Major General Pilot Al-Moghedi emphasized the IMCTC’s commitment to supporting member states through specialized programs and initiatives to enhance their capacity in the four key areas the IMCTC focuses on: the ideological, media, counter-terrorism financing, and military domains. For their part, the members of the Sierra Leonean committee expressed appreciation for the IMCTC's support to member states, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to strengthen national security and build the capacity of the country’s military and security personnel. This visit is part of preparations for the launch of the “Competence” initiative on Tuesday, one of the strategic military initiatives aimed at developing human and military capacities for counter-terrorism operations and enhancing professionalism in addressing security challenges through advanced training and qualification programs and effective partnerships with national agencies.
