Saudi Arabia Ranks 22nd Globally in World Happiness Report

Riyadh, March 23, 2026, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recorded notable progress in the World Happiness Report 2026, ranking 22nd globally out of 147 countries with a life evaluation score of 6.817 out of 10, according to the report published by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford in partnership with Gallup and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

The World Happiness Report is issued annually in conjunction with the International Day of Happiness on March 20. It is based on survey data covering more than 140 countries and measures people’s life evaluations using several key factors, including gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.

This year’s result underscores the success of efforts made under Saudi Vision 2030, particularly through the Quality of Life Program, which adopts the World Happiness Report as one of its reference indicators. Quality-of-life sectors have contributed more than $20.5 billion to the Kingdom’s GDP, attracted more than $5.8 billion in non-government investment, and boosted non-oil exports by more than $5.6 billion.

The Kingdom’s steady rise in the report reflects the positive impact of comprehensive transformations across the tourism, culture, entertainment, and sports sectors, which have promoted healthier lifestyles and built an integrated, people-centered system that enhances wellbeing.

Saudi Arabia ranked ahead of several major countries in the report, including the United States, which placed 23rd, Canada in 25th, and the United Kingdom in 29th. Finland topped the list for the ninth consecutive year, followed by Iceland and Denmark.
