• First Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals to be held in Dubai as a main event of the Dubai Motor Festival
Dubai– 6 November 2013: For the first time since its inception, the exciting Red Bull Car Park Drift Finals will take place in Dubai. As a main event of the inaugural Dubai Motor Festival, the action packed event is being organized by Red Bull in collaboration with of Dubai World Trade Center tomorrow.
The Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday, 8th November, starting 9:00 PM, the penultimate day of the Dubai Motor Festival. The adrenalin packed high octane spectacle will see 17 contestants from across the region compete to be crowned the “King of Drift” after having qualified from their respective country qualifiers.
The competitors, hailing from the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt and Bulgaria will battle it out in the Dubai World Trade Centre western Car Park in front of thousands of spectators. Judging the Drifters will be a panel of three juries that are international Drift Kings.
The inaugural Dubai Motor Festival is organized by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an Agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and is a celebration of motoring that is taking over Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The newly born festival is running from the 5th to the 9th November, and is successfully attracting motor enthusiasts from across the region and has added another festival experience for Dubai tourists and residents to take part in and enjoy.
DFRE Media Centre caught up with Faisal Al Zaabi, the UAE representative for the contest and asked him about his participation in this unique event. “I am ready” Zaabi declared, “it's happening on my ground for the first time, and I am more than ready to aim for the title”. Zaabi also thanked the organisers for making this championship happens, hoping that it would raise awareness on this exciting sport whilst attracting more youth to be part of it.
Doors open for the Red Bull Car Part Drift at 7:00 PM, the first car will set off at 9:00 PM. Tickets to access the viewing areas and grandstands are sold at Virgin Ticketing or on location for 55 and 200 AED respectively.
