Jeddah, September 15, 2025, SPA -- A research team at King Abdulaziz University, led by Dr. Areej Aljarb from the Department of Physics, has successfully manufactured a monolayer of 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology. This milestone enhances the university’s ability to produce advanced materials for global electronics and semiconductor applications. MoS2, an ultra-thin material, enables the development of smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient electronic devices. Its properties support rapid data processing and the creation of precise sensors for healthcare, environmental science, and smart vehicles, as well as future semiconductor technologies. This breakthrough positions King Abdulaziz University as a leader in localized advanced electronics research and development, placing the Kingdom among the few in the region with this capability.
