Dhahran, September 18, 2025, SPA -- The Water Research Community, organized by the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), has concluded its fifth edition, drawing over 400 experts, researchers, academics, and entrepreneurs. The event also featured an exhibition highlighting the latest innovations and cutting-edge projects in the water and energy sectors. During this edition, six research and innovation agreements were signed, including a cooperation agreement with the Water Transmission Company to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Additionally, a tripartite memorandum of understanding was signed between the SWA, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and King Abdulaziz University. It entails the establishment of the Saudi joint virtual center for innovation in desalination technologies, aimed at promoting sustainability, utilizing advanced materials and renewable energy, and expanding research cooperation to build national capacities. The authority emphasized that these outcomes underscore the Water Research Community’s pivotal role as a leading national platform, uniting researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs. It plays a key part in advancing the transition of research from the lab to real-world applications, thereby supporting the sustainability of the Kingdom’s water resources.
